This is the top board in more detail. There are 16 RAM chips on the right-hand side and the board takes its own power supply. The main chip is in fact an Acorn part, on the left, which is a bit confusing, unless it's a later edition memory controller which requires a bit of jiggery-pokery to make it work on an A305. The other possibility is that this is a RAM upgrade board which requires the memory controller being mounted on a carrier board like this.
