Pressing ESCAPE takes us into text editing mode. Whilst the menu screen might have looked similar to Wordwise, going into editing mode reveals that we are working with an altogether different beast.
Edit mode gives us a view of how the final document will be printed, and allows us to edit it as well, so at all times we can see how the document will look.
The line near the top of the screen is the page break, in this case the start of the first page, then there is the header space and then the default ruler showing the margins, indent and tab settings. The diagonal hatching represents unused space on the page at the end of the document.
