BeebMaster - Econet Station 201

Station 201
BBC Master 512

Here is Station 201 just after I added it to my Econet. It is the top machine of the two, connected to the top monitor and to the Watford Electronics double drive and monitor stand. Unfortunately the left-hand drive does not like the Master 512 DOS discs very much but I had to use this drive as a monitor stand otherwise I would not have had room for Station 201.

This machine is without doubt one of the most fascinating Beebs I own, with MOS 3.50, the 512 co-processor and the two ROM boards inside it.

I am not sure that MOS 3.50 is totally compatible with Econet. I had a few problems using REMOTE, VIEW and NOTIFY with this Station when I was testing it out. Alternatively, it could be that my network wiring is not as good as it should be.

I have this machine configured with the Tube off. Obviously under the 80186 co-processor, it cannot function as an Econet station so I only activate the Tube when I need to. This also allows me to use the 512K of RAM on the co-processor under the Co-Processor Filing System.

One of the side effects of this is that the people who wrote the Co-Processor Filing System, for reasonably good reasons detailed in the manual, gave it the same internal Filing System Number as the Econet filing system so copying files across the net into the RAM disc can be problematic depending on which utility is used.
