These pokes elsewhere in memory appear to show that the higher 16K of memory is duplicated or shadowed with the lower. Setting a value in the first 16K of addressable memory also appears to set the same value at a memory location+&4000.
The same thing happens if link S25 is set South rather than being removed completely.
