Almost immediately, I planned an extension of this bench and bought a new full length piece of worktop, the idea being to replace the existing short piece of bench with a new piece. In the end that didn't happen, as the narrowness of the hallway and the location of the doors meant it would have been impossible to get the full length worktop into the BeebRoom, so I had to have a join.
It's not so bad, as it means the length of this right-hand bench is actually longer than the new piece so I have ended up with a bit more space.
