The first "new" SCSI command we discover is &A, which is the normal command code for a write operation. LV-ROM is a read-only medium, but in fact the VP415 does support this command, although of course it doesn't actually write any data to the laserdisc!

This command is documented in the VP415 operating instructions and is supported for compatibility with computer systems which write an access datestamp to files which have been read.

Just to show that it isn't a fluke, the next command code gives us an LV-ROM bad command error.
