For the first time ever, images of the insides of an SJ Research MDFS!

Unfortunately, this one is a little worse for wear. In fact, it is my first MDFS which came with an expansion box containing a single hard disc.

One missing item was the key and in my impatience to get it going, I started fiddling about with the keyswitch mechanism and ended up breaking it. I managed to blow the main fuse (I think by plugging in the expansion box whilst the MDFS was switch on, so DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!) and replacing it with an unsuitable fuse caused a big bang, clouds of smoke and the MDFS was no more.

I am optimistic that this machine can be repaired. I think it is only a power supply failure but it will also need a new fuse and ideally a new keyswitch. If anybody can help me out, please let me know!

I was most reluctant to take apart my working MDFS for fear of breaking it so I used the opportunity of the dead MDFS to take some snaps of the insides.
