This is the first time I had the Bridge out of the box and the polythene bag. I had not even switched it on at this point. As soon as I saw it was in its original box, I had to photograph the process of unwrapping it for the first time!
It is marked "SJ Research Econet Bridge" and, underneath, "Developed in association with Acorn Computers Limited", which accounts for the dual SJ/Acorn branding on the box.
The main features of the Bridge can be seen here, namely:
- the security lock to switch between run-time and admin mode
- the small LCD screen which displays status messages and indicates the direction of data flow when the Bridge is running
- the three control buttons for setting the Bridge's various options
- the contrast control on the bottom of the Bridge to alter the visibility of the screen
The mains transformer is quite a bit bigger and much, much heavier than the unit used in the SJ Research Clock box.
