It's a CAV laserdisc, which means all the video is encoded as individual numbered frames, played back at a rate of 25 per second.
There is a very detailed index on the back cover listing the starting frame numbers for each bird. The disc also makes use of chapters, with groups of birds gathered together into chapters.
