In fact, Hyde Park was too full by this point, and nobody was being allowed in. Instead I had to scale this wall and cling to the railings whilst being menaced and cut to pieces by the holly bushes. I said to the gentleman clinging next to me, still in place in this picture I took shortly afterwards, "This is the meaning of devotion."
