Although I would have wished to see the Funeral Procession in full first-hand, a recce the night before around 10pm told me that it was going to be impossible to get anywhere close for a decent view on the main processional route. I walked from my hotel in Knightsbridge to Wellington Arch but it was impossible to progress any further even for a recce. The Police told me that Green Park was being used as a starting point for mourners to be let onto the processional route from 4 am, and people were queueing already.
In the end, and in concession to the 11-hour overnight walk in the Queue, I watched the Funeral on the television until the Procession left Horse Guards' Parade, and then set out to Hyde Park. The second part of the procession - the State Hearse to Windsor - passed along South Carriage Drive in Hyde Park, and I was able to get a reasonable view with my own eyes even at short notice, although this picture is rather less than optimal.
