Without the BBC's disgraceful policy of burning 1960s and 1970s TV programmes after they had been transmitted, the BBC Dr. Who audio releases might never have come about. I have a very big collection of the audio releases, probably nearly all of them.
By 2006, all the missing episodes of Doctor Who had miraculously appeared on audio: CD-quality sound recordings having apparently been made by Dr. Who fans on their original transmission by placing reel-to-reel tape recorders in front of the speaker of the TV set!
It's not quite the same as being able to watch the episodes but these releases are very good indeed, with narration by one of the original cast members or another Doctor covering the main action which you can't see. It's done in such a way as to fill in the gaps which open up due to the lack of vision but also so as not to be too intrusive into the original soundtrack.
I hope you will click on the picture links above to see more of my Dr. Who audio collection.
